The Diocesan Catechetical Centre organised a one day Lenten Recollection for all catechists in our Pune diocese on 3 March, 2024. Bishop John Rodrigues was the key speaker at the recollection where we had over 140 catechists from across the diocese present.
We began with a prayer by Fr. Dinesh our director. Mrs. Magdalena from the core team welcomed the Bishop and thanked him for sharing his time and reflections with us.
We had two sessions where our Bishop took us through sin, reconciliation and repentance. He shared anecdotes, took us through various facets of the topic and relating his points to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC).
At noon, the salesian provincial released a book translated and published by Fr. Ian Doulton, the rector. We then had the distribution of certificates for the catechists who completed the Catechism Teachers Basic Training (CTBT) and the Catechists Training Course (CTC).
We then had a break for lunch. Our teachers spent a lot of time exploring the lovely garden and catching up with friends they were meeting after a long time!
This was followed by adoration and confessions. We ended with the mass celebrated by Fr. Ian.
It was lovely meeting fellow catechists from other parishes. But more importantly we all returned refreshed, renewed and touched by all that we experienced at the recollection.
